WHY NOT ALUMINIUM ?
You rarely see car manufactures use aluminum in their cars' structural components. This because of its material properties.
​
Aluminium is a very stiff material, as a result, its used in planes. Bakkies however is built to flex which helps aid in the wheel articulation. This is why you will often find aluminium canopies crack or are so strong that the bakkie's tub will start to tear.​

They use toughened cold rolled steels.

which car manufactures in South Africa use to build their chassis.

The material shows great flexibility, strength
to weight ratio and resistance to corrosion. It offers 5x the yield strength of aluminium and 2x of automotive stainless steel. Meaning we can build a canopie as light as aluminium but stronger than stainless steel.

WHY NOT POWDER COATING ?
We used to use powder coating on a lot of our furniture products as it gave us a great finish, We soon noticed that scratches and chips appear very easily during installations and handling of these products. To repair this the item needed to be sandblasted and re-powder coated, as it can not be touched up.
​
We then switched to a 2 component paint that is used industrial applications. Is flexible and will not flake or chip. If impact is applied the paint will absorb the impact and return to its original form. Although you might see some discoloration it does not open and expose the steel. (for more information Click)

We also used the paint on agriculture products that is subjected to wear and tear and has stud the test of time.
​
The paint is also available nationwide and can be match to any paint code. As where powder coating is limited in its color options.
WHY PRESSURE VENTS ?
As you drive, negative pressure is created at the back of your bakkie. This negative pressure creeps into your load bin and starts to pull dust in through every little corner.
To prevent this, you can rubberize your load bin and add a dust seal kit. Our SED canopies as standard come with two air inlets that pressurize the tub to prevent negative pressure build up.

This is also beneficial for transporting people and pets as it provides constant fresh air.
